“A day boarder is a student who remains in the school for extended hours, having their meals, taking part in activities, and doing their preparation during the extended hours, but they do not stay overnight. Day boarders are often allocated a study space in the boarding house but do not have a bedroom.”
WHAT IS DAY-BOARDING ?
School time is considered the most critical time of your child’s life. This is the time when your child’s academic and professional future is crafted. But does it really confine only from 8 am to 2 pm when a child completes his/her syllabus and returns home with loads of homework and projects. In most of the cases, the parents only finish the work and projects. In this approach, not only child’s holistic development gets affected but parents also feel under pressure and get stressed. Due to this stress, a distance between parent and child appears. To avoid such situationsand to find some solution, parents generally send their child to tuition, coaching, etc. In this system child never enjoys his learning. in this approach, the child always finds a big gap between these temporary solutions and the school system and hence gets confused. But does it really help? And the answer is NO! In fact, it increases the stress of parents rise up with issues like Safety issues, foul language, bunking, untrained teachers, and most importantly, the child misses his/her own time. In addition to this, the child neither does any extra-curricular activity nor any skill. For that, parents have to think of some other options and this cycle of stress goes on.

A mother cooks a meal with heart for family along with the spices. But when a child reaches home, either food is cold or stale because the timings of lunch at home is different from his arrival time. A healthy child will have a focused and creative mind. In day Boarding, children will be provided with a freshly prepared hot, nutritious and balanced vegetarian diet which includes all seasonal vegetables on time. This will help children to grow better. We provide better options of snacks to students. The menu is well planned as per interest of children and as per requirement of their health. Menu is weekly updated and uploaded on school website. Children learn to eat different healthy foods in the company of his/her friends.

We accept that parents specially mother is the best teacher of a child. But when it comes to academic excellence, then it becomes a challenging task for parents. On a daily basis it is again very difficult for parents to look after their child’s homework and other academic requirements. Even after taking help from different sources like tuition, coaching etc., doesn’t help them much. In addition to that, precious time of a child is wasted in commuting here and there for such options. Hence, he/she doesn't get quality time with parents and for other family functions. Day-Boarding provides a permanent solution of this situation. Well trained subject experts will take care of all academic needs of child along with homework and preparation of examination. Our day boarding teachers are well versed with the syllabus pace in school and communicate with subject teachers on regular basis to understand the academic needs of the student. Hence there is no confusion and overall child gets benefits of it. A subject teacher knows the child’s weak points better and understand them better than anyone else. He/she will strengthen the basic foundation of knowledge of student and help them to learn better. In other set ups this point is entirely missing and that’s why academics of students get affected. 3- APPROACH TO ALL LABS, ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS UNDER ONE ROOF
During day boarding session, a child will have a better approach to labs, activity areas and facilities of schools with more hands-on practices. A- Sports in Day-Boarding v/s sports at home
After a busy schedule when child gets free time, he/she wants to play. They may have interest for any particular sport or game. But due to lack of facilities like proper ground, sport goods and trained coaches, children ultimately lose their interest in sport and hence their overall holistic development gets hindered.
TWGS offers a wide range of 24 games facility along with Olympic half sized swimming pool to give a true sense of international level. In day—boarding each child is assigned with two sports on the basis of their preferences and interest for a certain period of time. He/she plays with same age peer group under the supervision of trained and dedicated coaches of the sport. Also, he gets chance to develop and polish his/her talent for sport on well-designed (as per national and international measurements) grounds and fields available in school premises.
B- Creative Activities in Day-Boarding v/s activities at home
We believe that every child is creative. But due to present scenario of education, there are hardly chances for a child to explore their interests in rainbow of activities. Even if he/she has interest in any creative art form, trainings are not easily available and when available either they are far from child’s home or they are out of the budget. Then making arrangements for child is also a difficult task.
But in Day-boarding schedule, we have ensured that each child will be given chance to explore all activities available in school like music (vocal and instrumental), dance, handloom, art, craft, pottery. Hence dream of child doesn’t get killed by other situational problems. We give wings to their dreams.
4- REMEDIAL & TUTORIAL CLASSES FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Each child has his/her own pace of learning and understanding. That’s the reason we have a planned schedule of remedial and tutorial classes of each grade except pre-primary to class 2. In this duration subject experts/mentors will solve their doubts and teach new concepts to enhance their understanding of the particular topic. In case, even then child doesn’t understand the topic in remedial class, we may provide him/her a separate time for that particular topic so that his/her learning experience must be better. Unlike other set ups like tuitions, coaching etc., our day-boarding syllabus and classes are well synchronized with school. In this way, child doesn’t get confused and hence his learning outcome becomes stronger and his/her learning experience gets converted in to a happy experience.
5- PEER LEARNING IS THE SOUL OF DAY-BOARDING

A child learns best in same age group. He/she learns so many new things in his/her peer group. In Day-Boarding, children will have more quality time with their friends, hence the chances of learning from peer group will be more. During sports and activities, children either generally get neglected or bullied when they play in a mixed age group. But in day boarding, children play with their friends of same age group under the supervision of trained teachers and mentors, hence chances of getting neglected or bullied are negligible.
6- LIMITED NUMBER MEANS MORE CHANCES AND BETTER LEARNING
Day Boarding has smaller sections for individual attention to each child. We accommodate a limited number of students in Day Boarding Classes (Max 10-12) for better learning experiences and interactions between teacher and the child. Brackets on seats provide a higher number of chances of engagement& involvement of all students in maximum activities. This approach enhances the chances of overall holistic development. We believe in reflection. That’s the reason, on every fourth Saturday, children perform and present whatever they have learnt during that particular month.
7- WELL DEFINED SYLLABUS
Day-boarding isn’t different from day-school. It is an integral part of the school curriculum. Each class runs in synchronous form along with the well-defined and bifurcated syllabus of each subject. It enhances the efficiency of teacher as well as it gives a readiness feel to parents and student.
8- WELL DEFINED TIME-TABLE
Day-boarding has a well-structured and balanced time table to cater towards all requirements of the holistic development of a child. It includes variety of activities, sports and academic subjects. It also includes the rest time for junior students which gives them chance to reboot their energy.
A weekly schedule has been provided and will be revised as per the need of the Students, to keep track of day boarder's activities and tasks for the week.
This includes everything that TWGS has to provide the students for their Holistic Growth.
9- A FULL TIME EXPERIENCED AND DEDICATED DAY-BOARDING COORDINATOR
TWGS understands this system very well. So, to ensure that, all things take place as per the requirement of the child, we have appointed a full time dedicated, well qualified and highly experienced Day-boarding coordinator for this. He has a vast experience of Boarding as well as day-boarding schools. He is determined to inculcate the best practices of such reputed schools in our day-boarding system to give the wings to dreams of students.

11- EVALUATION IS CONTINUOUS AND COMPREHENSIVE (CCE) IN DAY-BOARDING
In Day-Boarding, improvement of a child is continuous and comprehensively evaluated, popularly known as CCE pattern. In this system, each child is observed and corrected on many parameters. We have divided this evaluation in two parts: Academic development and Holistic Development. Where in academic part we evaluate a child on understanding, remembering, problem solving, application and out of the box parameters. Simultaneously in holistic part we have a range of parameters like discipline, performance, social behavior, language, communication skills, neatness, dining etiquettes, uniform, attitude etc. in which we assess a child.
We first observe and correct and then observe and assess. This evaluation system gives a fair and clear idea of child’s overall growth
12- PARENTS-TEACHER MEETING (PTM)
Swami Vivekanand said, “Education is the manifestation of perfection already in men”. We also believe in reflection of learning. Hence, on every 4th Saturday, we celebrate ‘performance day’ where each child will show case his/her learnings of that month on stage. Parents are highly requested to attend performance day.Parents can avail the information of their child on daily and weekly basis.
We consider parents an integral part of our vision. It is equally important for a parent to know about the progress of their child. We have kept our mailing system open for parents to address their concerns and queries.
13- COUNSELLING
Children have their own stress and mental issues. In day Boarding, regular counselling sessions by expert/teacher will help them to reduce such stress. Hence, they will become a HAPPY GLOBAL CITIZEN.
14- PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
The inherent talent in each child is brought out through exposure to a wide range of games, sports and co-curricular activities. He/ she can decide a hobby of his/her liking and develop the talent to its excellence. Day boarding builds self-confidence, self-discipline, independent approach, the capacity to interact with adults and fellow students and a sense of direction in the students as they spend more quality time in school under the right direction of teacher, coaches and management.
15- TEACHER STUDENT INTERACTION
Child spends more time with teachers and thereby develops a stronger bond. Due to small class size, the teacher is able to give personalized attention and acts as a personal mentor instilling passion in the student for the sport and hobbies.
What should exactly a student do once reach at home from day-boarding ?
Leisure time is equally important for students to rejuvenate their energy and to channelize it properly. A student completes his/her all task related to academics as well as holistic needs in day-boarding. Once he/she reaches at home, he/she may spend quality time with family members and relax. He/she can prepare for many more things which are generally not possible in a routine life schedule. Overall development requires rest too.
Roll of a day-boarder’s parents v/s a day-scholar’s parents
In most of the cases, parents take stress of completion of homework, other academic and holistic needs of their child. In this process, both parent as well as student get exhausted. Hence overall development along with the quality time of a student gets hindered.
But the parents of a day-boarder are free, relaxed and more importantly happy. They don’t need to think about the academic and other holistic needs of the child. Both parent and child get a chance to spend quality time with each other and hence their relationship and bonding becomes stronger.
